Infant Adoption – Pre-adoption Birthparent counseling is an educational and supportive service to birthparents that are planning adoption. Clients are referred to the program from a variety of sources at any stage of their pregnancy. We offer a range of services to birthparents of any age or marital status and their families. The Infant Adoption program seeks appropriate homes for children whose birthparents have made the difficult decision to place them for adoption. We also recruit for permanent families for children in the state foster care system. Post-adoption services include letter and picture exchanges, arranging meeting and providing non-identifying information to members of the adoption triad. SEARCH is now a part of the post adoption service.

The Society currently operates several programs responding to the needs
of at-risk youth and their families:
Washington County Youth Services provides crisis intervention, family mediation services, and foster-care based shelter to youth ages 7 to 17 referred by Washington County Mental Health. The maximum stay is seven nights per youth. In addition, the Society operates a Transitional Living Program for youth ages 16 to 21 in need of support for successful transition into adulthood and self-sufficiency. These youth live in foster homes or in their own apartments, which are subsidized through our federal Transitional Living Program grant. Youth participate in the program for up to 18 months, during which time they receive weekly, strength-based case management focused on helping them develop independent living skills.
Shelter Services provide intake, assessment and foster care
