YPA AGENCY SERVICES

Youth Progress Association offers the following services:

PROCTOR CARE currently contracts with sixteen family homes that provide a structured and supportive living environment for many of Youth Progress Association’s clients.  Proctor homes are specialized according to each Youth Progress Association program and are certified by OYA, DHS, or both, depending on the program that the proctor home is affiliated with.  Proctor parents help implement client treatment plans by providing continuity with skill-building, independent living, and opportunities for increased responsibility in the community, along with other areas of a client’s individual treatment plan and goals.

DAY SERVICES/COMMUNITY SUPPORT is available for youth who are living at home, independently, or in another OYA or DHS placement.  Day Services youth are placed within a specific Youth Progress Association program according to their needs, and have access to all Youth Progress Association services, including case management, education, tracking, life skills and employability skills education, counseling, and vocational assistance.

THE LEARNING CENTER provides in-house education services, including GED preparation, credits towards a high school diploma, special education, individual tutoring, and education assessments.  Youth Progress Association is approved by the State of Oregon to provide high school alternative education and special education services.  College readiness and post-secondary planning services are also provided.

INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS AND EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS EDUCATION are programmed curriculums that provide youth the knowledge and skills needed to live as productive and independent adults.  Based on individual assessments, clients complete skill packets and attend weekly classes to build upon their independent living and employability skills.  Skill areas include (but are not limited to): money management, affordable housing, transportation, personal health, emergency resources, creating a resume, completing applications, job searching, interview skills, work attitude, and problem-solving.

JOB DEVELOPMENT AND MAINTENANCE TRAINING assists youth with locating, securing, and maintaining employment.  While clients are required to obtain employment through independent job searching, it is a structured and accountable process.  All clients receive hands-on practice as they go through the job search steps of cold calling, creating resumes, completing applications, interviewing, and follow-up contact.  Once a client obtains employment Youth Progress Association then helps them practice how to maintain it.  Each client is monitored and employment progress reviews are regularly received from their supervisors.  Clients receive assistance with processing and problem-solving difficult work issues, as well as discussing areas of improvement and positive progress that has been made in order to help them practice and achieve successful employment.

VOCATIONAL PLANNING guides youth in determining their vocational interests, researching the training and education options that will lead them to their chosen career path, and ultimately choosing one training/education option to begin pursuing.  Vocation planning helps the youth solidify a vocational plan and begin the transition into a financially stable and career advancing position.

STRENGTH-BASED ENRICHMENT SERVICES  facilitate the development of community resources, strength social networks and support, and create a wide variety of pro-social free time activities for youth to participate in.  Youth Progress Association offers several in-house recreational activities to help all clients discover their personal interests and strengths.  Activities include visual arts, athletics, music and recording, writing and literature, volunteering, foreign culture and language classes, and crafts.

CLINICAL SERVICES are offered in both individual and group settings in order for clients to work on such issues as anger management, criminal thinking, drug and alcohol abuse, sex offender issues, gang involvement, and family problems

SEX OFFENDER TREATMENT AND AFTERCARE includes primary treatment, outpatient primary treatment, and aftercare services utilizing individual and group modalities.

DRUG AND ALCOHOL RECOVERY support, in cooperation with LifeWorks NW, includes individual assessments, drug and alcohol counseling, educational programs, attending NA/AA support groups, and coordination with outside agencies.
