Serving youth is our primary purpose.  Looking Glass offers innovative programs and services to children adolescents, young adults and families.  Our programs span the fields of mental health, juvenile justice, employment and education.  We deal with such critical issues as homelessness, substance abuse, delinquency, child abuse, delayed education and unemployment.  We assist clients develop a positive attitude towards themselves and others and to build self-esteem, accountability, and an appropriate degree of independence, so that they will create a better world for themselves and for future generations.

ADOLESCENT RECOVERY PROGRAM

Program Description

 

Adolescent Recovery Program provides outpatient treatment for youth who are experiencing difficulties with substance use and related issues.  Program goals include substance use prevention, recovery from abuse and addiction, reestablishing a positive family atmosphere, and promoting healthy adolescent development.  Adolescent Recovery utilizes a strength-based approach using incentives and rewards for youth retention and treatment.

 

When youth enter the program, needs are evaluated and an individualized treatment plan is created.  Services offered include an early intervention program, diversion program for MIP and UPCS, individual, family and group therapy services, groups for youth ages 10 to 14, recreational therapy, a summer wilderness program, dual diagnosis, teen parent services, and cognitive behavioral restructuring.

 

Continuing care is provided for youth who have successfully completed the program.  Support programs include a weekly peer support group, recreational activities and support to promote positive community involvement with schools, employment and self-help groups.  Treatment is covered by most insurance plans and through the Oregon Health Plan.  A sliding-fee scale is available.

Program Description

 

The Center Point School offers services for mentally ill youth, ages 11 to 17, Monday -Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Because we recognize and value the importance of family systems in providing successful day treatment services, family involvement is necessary.

 

Treatment for youth addresses inappropriate social behaviors, emotional disturbance, and academic deficiencies and/or school failure.  Services for the family address communication skills conflict resolution, and relationship dynamics.  Components include mental health assessments, psychiatric services, individual and family therapy, educational instruction and assessments, group therapy, social skills training, family consultation and education and skills for safe/healthy transition into the community.

Counseling Program assists children, youth and adults and their families improve their relationships and make beneficial changes in their lives. Outpatient counseling services are individually tailored to meet each client's needs.  Treatment recommendations are based on an assessment of individual and family dynamics.  When appropriate, a Brief Therapy approach is used that involves the whole family. Medical cards and private health insurance accepted.  A sliding-fee scale is available.

Program Description

 

Evaluation and Treatment Center is residential treatment that responds to the emergency residential needs of adolescent girls and their families.  24-hour supervision is provided in a safe environment to stabilize the behavior of young women who are a risk to themselves and the community.  The program is licensed by the state of Oregon and offers 24-hour supervision, mental health, alcohol and drug treatment and cognitive skills development within a therapeutic environment.  After treatment, these young women return home or transition to long-term treatment placements.

 

The residential routine establishes an environment of safety where activities are designed to meet the developmental and treatment needs of young women.  Daily activities teach these women personal safety, mastery of skills, responsibility, self-worth predicated on achievement, and service to the community.  Private health insurance is accepted.

 

Evaluation and Treatment Center provides on-site schooling with educational assessments and classroom activities for women placed here.  Evaluation and Treatment Center coordinate with local schools for individualized lesson plans for young women and their transition back into her school district.

Program Description

 

New Roads assists homeless youth 16 to 21.  The goal is to help youth who are interested in creating long-term solutions that improve the quality of their lives.  We help young people on their road to independence.  We provide case management services, street outreach and housing.  Referrals come from the youth themselves, social service agencies, schools, families, and religious organizations.

 

New Roads School is a collaborative effort between the agency, Eugene 4J School District, and the local business community.  The school provides an alternative education program to meet individual student needs.  The goal is to prepare youth for transition to another educational setting or on to employment opportunities, and to provide students with resources and skills to reconnect them to their community.

 

Services include education, life skills, meals, and additional services such as health care, counseling, case management and recreational opportunities.

PATHWAYS

Program Description

 

Pathways provides residential and continuing care drug and alcohol treatment services for juvenile offenders, ages 12 to 18.  Most residents stay an average of six months before graduating and returning home.  Success is measured by the percentage of graduates who remain free of new criminal offenses one year after completing residential treatment.  Since 1990, this success rate has averaged almost 90% annually.

 

Pathways is a residential Alcohol and Drug treatment for Lane County only.

 

The program provides therapy with 24-hour supervised group living.  Residents learn new skills and behaviors and as they increase their responsibility they are rewarded with privileges appropriate to the recovery process.  Youth work with counselors to create individualized treatment plans to determine their goals and the activities to achieve them.

 

Other services offered under this program include, peer group skills, substance abuse treatment, academic instruction/drug and alcohol education, family counseling recreation and 12 months of continuing care.  All referrals to Pathways must come from the Lane County Juvenile Justice System.

Program Description

 

The Riverfront School and Career Center is a school-to-work program offering vocational training and education for out-of-school youth.  The Riverfront School is a year-round, accredited alternative school.

 

The RSCC’s mission is to help prepare young adults to become productive citizens by providing a work and learning environment where they feel challenged, respected and accountable as they strive to meet the demands of adulthood.

 

Services include comprehensive career and basic skills assessment, basic skills instruction, credit recovery toward a high school diploma, GED instruction, work experience, job search and placement, computer skills instruction, parenting and life skills for pregnant and parenting teens, and independent living skills for youth in foster care.

Program Description

 

Station 7 (Homeless & Runaway Services) provides crisis intervention services and temporary shelter and interim Host Home Care for runaway and homeless youth and their families.  Services included are offered independently and in combination.  These services include, Safe Place Outreach Project, Twenty-Four 7 Youth Host Home Project, 24-hour crisis intervention and advocacy, family reconciliation, emergency shelter care, assessment, service coordination and after care.

Program Description

 

Stepping Stone is a community-based Level 4 Behavioral Rehabilitation Services (BRS) residential treatment program for adjudicated youth.  The boys in the program typically have a history of delinquency, sexual acting out, family conflict, substance abuse issues and school failure.  Youth with a history of sexual offending are accepted.  Youth are accepted from all parts of Oregon.

 

This program includes individual, family and group counseling as well as individual and group skills training.  There is an on-site school that provides individualized educational services.  Specialized treatment is offered for youth with a history of sexual offending.  Most youth stay between 10 to 24 months, depending on their offense, before graduating from the program to their home, foster care or other community living situation. Our goal is to help youth develop the essential skills they need to return to their communities and become law-abiding, productive citizens.  Youth are referred to the program by the Oregon Youth Authority, and County Juvenile Departments.  All youth who enter the program must be placed in the care and custody of OYA prior to admission.

Program Description

 

The Transition Center is a community-based Behavioral Rehabilitation Services (BRS) shelter program for adjudicated boys ages 12-17.  Youth served are residents of Lane County Oregon and are referred by Lane County Department of Youth Services.  The program is licensed by the state of Oregon.  It offers 24-hour supervision in a staff secure setting.  Individualized services include skill building, individual and family counseling, alcohol and drug assessments and treatment, mental health, recreation and on-site school.  After treatment, youth return home or transition to longer-term treatment.
