The Oregon Alliance strongly condemns the death of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade, Philando Castile, Alton Sterling, and far too many other innocent black Americans whose lives were taken way too soon. Black lives matter. They are precious, glorious, and irreplaceable.

We stand in solidarity with millions of people around the world in condemnation. We declare that racism is a public health crisis; that racism causes persistent discrimination influencing all areas of life, including health, education, housing, employment and criminal justice. The current pandemic has highlighted and further worsened these inequities. We cannot sit and remain silent as people mourn yet another member of our community.

How we bring about change:

  • Being honest enough to look at ourselves and our institutions.

  • Acknowledging that institutional racism, systemic poverty, blatant discrimination, and unconscious bias impact the daily lives of millions of black and brown families.

  • Demand and take actions that guarantee equity and fairness through new laws and policies; especially meaningful change that calls for the dismantling of oppressive systems.
  •
  • It is each of our individual’s responsibility to keep the momentum of the moment to evoke change by educating ourselves on the issues, speaking to our politicians and policy makers, and becoming involved with local social justice chapters.

With heavy hearts and a deep sense of responsibility,

Vera Stoulil,  Board President

Royce Bowlin,  Executive Director

Oregon Alliance Board of Directors

We've Changed.

Formally the Oregon Alliance of Children's Programs, we are now the Oregon Alliance for Children, Families and Communities.
You can just call us the Alliance.
We've expanded our vision and mission and are committed to transforming Oregon's system of care. We promote and support the well-being and sustained success of every Oregonian we can reach - the children, families, and communities that make up this state's vast potential.
